Dr. Seasly is a real-life Guardian of the Galaxy. Her focus as NASA's Deputy Planetary Protection Officer is to ensure spacecraft is clean enough to visit other worlds when searching for life or signs of past life, and any material samples brought back from visits to other worlds do not pose a risk to life on Earth. She has been fighting the clean fight for 20 years, first beginning her career in the defense industry as a Rocket Surgeon (contamination control engineer) supporting missile defense programs, and eventually transitioning to NASA. She is a proud engineering nerd, with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arizona, MS in Patent Law from the University of Notre Dame, and Doctor of Engineering from George Washington University.
